CAFFE CORRETTO HISTORY
Founded on a passion for authentic Italian cuisine and genuine hospitality, the Francese family opened their first restaurant in Melbourne in 1971. Their traditional home-style pizzas, handmade pasta, and warm family service quickly earned a loyal following, laying the foundation for a lasting culinary legacy inspired by generations of treasured Southern Italian family recipes.
In 1972, Caffe Corretto opened its doors on Melbourne’s iconic Lygon Street in Carlton, becoming a cornerstone of the city’s renowned Italian dining scene. For over 50 years, the restaurant has proudly served guests with its famous Corretto Pizza, homemade pasta, signature parmigiana, and charcoal-grilled steaks, all crafted with the same commitment to quality, tradition, and flavour that defined its beginnings.
More than just a restaurant, Caffe Corretto has become a gathering place where family, friends, and visitors from around the world come together to experience the warmth of Italian hospitality. Its welcoming atmosphere, rich history, and dedication to exceptional service have made it a beloved destination for generations of Melbourne locals and international guests alike.
Deeply connected to the Carlton community, Caffe Corretto has built strong relationships throughout Melbourne and proudly supports local events and initiatives. Over the years, the restaurant has welcomed a diverse range of guests, including artists, musicians, actors, athletes, business leaders, and travellers seeking an authentic taste of Italy in the heart of Melbourne.
At Caffe Corretto, our mission has always been simple: to serve every guest with passion, generosity, and care—and to create an experience that brings them back time and time again.
Today, with three generations contributing to the family business, Caffè Corretto continues to honour its heritage while looking toward the future, preserving the traditions, flavours, and hospitality that have defined the restaurant for more than five decades.
